Abelardo Favela was born in Mexicali, Mexico in 1948.  He studied in Guadalajara and in Mexico City and began painting in 1970.

He was a television producer for “Canal 13” in Mexico. In 1977 he was the general director of the educational television station.

In September 1982, he became president of the advertising agency “Grupo  Match”. He produced more than 250 commercials at the agency before retiring to paint full time.

In 1994, Abelardo moved to Cuernavaca to fulfill his dream to be a full time painter. He has painted more than 500 oil paintings and 300 drawings, all of which are hanging in private collections.  Abelardo has had 25 individual exhibitions.
